Andrew Osenga, one of my favorite YL camp musicians, recently wrote this song specifically for YL club. It fits perfectly as a content song early in the club year, especially during need & sin talk weeks. We’re singing it this upcoming week before the need talk along with S.O.S. by Ed Cash.
You can download a recording of Andy singing it below. After only playing it once, my 4 year old daughter had already learned the chorus and was singing along by the song’s end. It’s catchy, powerful, and purposefully mellow, pointing us to our need for Christ, our only hope.
Thanks to Andy O for passing it along!
Where Do I Go?
I
tried to show the real me
to
my family and to my friends
even
the ones who listened
could
never really understand
how I’ve tried to be strong
but the nights are so long
where do I go when I’m lonely?
where do I go when I’m afraid?
where do I go when I’m angry?
where do I go when I’m ashamed
hungry
for a feeling
to
be loved and to have respect
I
gave my body to receive it
but
nothing’s satisfied me yet
and I’ve tried to be strong
but the nights are so long
where do I go when I’m lonely?
where do I go when I’m afraid?
where do I go when I’m angry?
where do I go when I’m ashamed
are you really there?
are you really there to save me?
do you even care?
do you really care about me?
where do I go when I’m lonely?
where do I go when I’m afraid?
where do I go when I’m angry?
where do I go when I’m ashamed
