“Deeper in Christ” with JB Ward

JB Ward February 10, 2021

In today’s “Deeper in Christ” video, we get to hear from JB Ward, Young Life staff in Pittsburgh, PA. JB lets us in on a secret- he is a terrible listener. According to his family, he listens about two-thirds of the time, and all the other time he is distracted or focused on something else. He admits to this problem that a lot of us have even though “one of the most loving things you can do for someone is listening to them” (John Evans).

Jesus was a great listener and let others know that he was listening by making eye contact and responding. In Hebrews 12:1-2, it says “And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer, and perfecter of faith.” The world is so distracting and so loud, but if we fix our eyes on him, we can hear his voice and respond to him.

What do you need to silence or mute in order to hear Jesus?

What is the biggest distraction for you right now?

How could you use the season of Lent to listen to Jesus?
