In this “Deeper in Christ” video, we get to hear from Marty McCarty, the Vice President for Young Life Military/ Club Beyond.
The passage of scripture Marty has been continually drawn to is Romans 12:9-21 which is known as “Traits of a True Christian.” Marty focuses in on one particular verse from that passage.
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer.”
Romans 12:12
He reminds us of 3 key points from this scripture:
- Joy is a conscious decision regardless of your external circumstance.
- Patience is measured in much longer periods of time than we realize.
- Prayer is the most powerful currency of the kingdom and being faithful in prayer means shutting up long enough to hear from the Lord.
Which of these 3 traits resonate with you the most? Which one is God calling you to lean into? Who in your life needs to be reminded of these traits and is someone you can talk to about this?
