Staggering Toward Slaughter

April 30, 2012

A seasoned volunteer leader in our area sent the following email to his team last week. It was forwarded to me and he’s given permission to share it with you.

Why do we care about high school people?

Why do we ‘do’ Young Life?

Proverbs 24:11, “Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter.”

When I read these words I was struck by the image that our friends are being led away to death.

I will confess that during these spring months I tend to look forward to having a break from kids. But, God’s word has real power and if I think about the fact that there are kids staggering toward slaughter, how can I not be moved into action? How can I not care? How can I be bashful about introducing a high school friend to Jesus?

Let’s finish strong. Pray without ceasing. Love the unlovely. Be patient. And never give up.

We are not in this alone.

Jim

Kind of gets me fired up.
